Circuit Court Judge: Grant County (1990 – 2009)

 

Appointed by the Governor in 1990 to fill a position made vacant by a retirement after being nominated by a nonpartisan committee, and after receiving a 100% competency rating from fellow Grant County attorneys. Elected to a full term in 1991, and then again in 1997 and 2003

Appointed as Reserve Judge 2009 -  Present

Elected to the Wisconsin Judicial Council (2008 – 2009)

Appointed Chair of Judicial Conduct Advisory Committee by Chief Justice Abrahamson (2003 – 2009)

Elected to serve on the Supreme Court’s Policy Planning and Advisory Committee

Appointed to a panel of appellate judges to decide appellate cases  2008-2009

Author of decision - State v. McPhee, 2008 AP 610  (2009)

Established Judge Curry’s Roundtable

Developed and implemented a program to curb underage drinking in Grant County called Fresh Start

Worked on Intensive Supervision Program, Teen Court and Drug Court development in Grant County

Presided over 387 jury trials

Trial attorney in commercial and personal injury cases, both plaintiff and defense work and regional counsel for several insurance companies.  Handled probate, estate planning, criminal law, real estate law, and commercial law cases

Plaintiff’s attorney in cases involving medical malpractice, products liability (i.e. Dalkon Shield case), a paraplegic and a quadriplegic case, and others
